Only 5 minutes from the main St Michael ski lift and 2km from a beautiful PGA championship golf course, St Martin Chalets' beautiful, natural timber, self-catering chalets offer the perfect holidays to Austria, in summer and winter alike. Although you would never know it, this is the first environmentally friendly Austrian holiday resort, which, aside from growing its own biofuel, is all but self-sufficient. All ten chalets were constructed from local timber, feature triple glazing, natural sheep's wool insulation and underfloor heating, and are fed by pure natural spring water. The chalets feature all modern conveniences and accommodate between 4 and 14 people comfortably. They also share access to our central facilities, which include barbeque area, sauna, gym, recreation room, wine cellar, natural swimming pond and cinema.

We are Jodi and Herby Bliem – husband and wife team who run the day-to-day operations at the resort. Although our chalets are self-catering, we're always on hand for arranging trips, ski hire, shopping, fresh rolls for breakfast and the occasional hot evening meal, and we'll do everything in our power to ensure you have a holiday to Austria that you’ll never forget. We are both qualified skiing instructors (Herby's Austrian but I'm one of a number of English skiing instructors here in St Michael), while I'm also a mountain guide and qualified natural health professional. If you get lost on the mountain, our black labrador, Jimbo, is a fully accredited mountain rescue dog (and big softy), so you'll be in good hands!

As for the town, St Michael is something of a hidden treasure. It is still a working town, with timber and farming still its major industries, so it has retained most of its Austrian charm. There are regular parties, markets, festivals and celebrations – many of which have been lost from the larger resorts, which in most cases offer more sanitised holidays to Austria. Ours are the real thing. There are numerous Austrian bars and restaurants, which offer traditional dishes and excellent quality, and you'll find that, because we're not on the main tourist trail, prices here are extremely reasonable.

We often say that St Michael is ideally suited for families – there are plenty of beginner slopes, as well as more extreme skiing for the experts, and we offer childcare services and babysitting through our links with one of the local hotels – but more than half of our visitors are groups of adults and friends, who love the fact that this is truly unspoilt Austria. We're also proud to say that we have a rebooking rate of more than 70% year-on-year, so we think we must be doing something right!
